Teachers

Hillary Brock, RYT
I took my first yoga class in 2003 and have been hooked ever since.  As a student of yoga, I have gained more awareness of the positive impacts yoga can have for all people looking to improve their physical well-being and connectedness with themselves and the world around them. Being a special education teacher, I also have begun to see the benefits yoga can have on younger students and started using it within my classroom.  In an effort to have greater understanding of this amazing practice, I completed a 200 RYT yoga certification with Kristi Reid-Barton in 2011 at It’s Yoga! Studio in Greenville, SC. I look forward to deepening my practice even more as I learn from the students at Soul Flow and others with whom I am fortunate to meet!

I took my first Yoga class in 2004 and was instantly captivated, first by the physical benefits of the practice and increasingly by the spiritual and philosophical elements.  I entered the RYT (200 hr Registered Yoga Teacher) program at Asheville Yoga Center in 2007 looking to deepen my practice and gain teaching certification.  Bringing more yoga to our community is a natural progression of my passion for teaching and sharing the joys of Yoga.

Brenda Drake
I began practicing yoga my freshman year at Appalachian State University in Boone, NC.  I continued to practice through the decades with great teachers including Seane Corn, Patricia Walden and Rodney Yee whenever I could find a yoga class in my travels.  In 2007 I began teaching after my Vinyasa certification with Stephanie Keach.  I am currently working on my 200 hour certification with Max Strom and love his way of teaching Hatha yoga.  My joy is in everyday glimpses of the divine and in transformative process that yoga makes possible for anyone who will begin the journey.

Lola Patrick, RYT
Lola started practicing yoga about 6 years ago as an addition to her regular workout regimen.  She discovered that the more she practiced yoga, the stronger she became both mentally and physically.  She loves the empoweing feeling that a strong practice gave to her and felt compelled to enroll in a teacher training to learn more.  Lola completed her Vinyasa Flow training with Stephanie Keach of the Asheville Yoga Center in August, 2010.  She enjoys sharing her passion for yoga with others and looks forward to continuing her education.

Lauren Ponder, E-RYT 500
Being a collector of experiences, lover of life and tryer of anything, my yoga practice began in 2001 with nothing more than a curiosity.  One class has since morphed into a way of life that I want to share with everyone.  My teaching is an eclectic blend of many styles, always focusing on what the student needs.  Every day is different, in life and in our bodies, and yoga has created an awareness and sense of calm that I try to take into the world off the mat.  It truly is mind, body & soul.

Connie Scrivens, RYT
Taking yoga classes week after week, month after month, and year after year, I marveled at the benefits that slowly and steadily accrued through regular practice. When my first yoga teacher asked me if I wanted to substitute teach her class, I was thrilled. Being able to share the gift of yoga with others was an honor. It still is. I received my 200-hour yoga teacher training from Stephanie Keach at the Asheville Yoga Center.

Lori Skerjanz, RYT
I count myself lucky to have finally found yoga. Through learning poses with all their tweaks and discomfort and sweat… I have found Quiet. I call it my yoga and it has encouraged me to a new path – teaching.
